Seven things you need to consider while buying diamond:
Step 1: What is your budget?
Due to the many parameters according to which a diamond is priced, the cost of a diamond in general, and a diamond for an engagement ring in particular, may vary. Therefore, the most important first step is to set a budget.
Step 2: What kind of diamond would you prefer? Natural or laboratory?
A natural diamond is a rare resource, created naturally through a slow process over millions of years at high pressure and temperatures below the Earth’s surface. This long process is why Diamonds are so rare and valuable. About 70 percent of the world's buyers prefer a natural diamond.
Artificial diamonds, sometimes referred to as "laboratory diamonds", are diamonds created by man-made and technological means. It is a chemical process that mimics the temperature and pressure conditions similar to those found in the depths of the Earth. In recent years, there has been a growing demand for laboratory diamonds due to it’s price being lower than that of a natural diamond and today about 30 percent of buyers will choose laboratory diamonds.
Step 3: Which diamond shape do you prefer?
Each customer has his preferred diamond shape.
Here are some of our available options:
Step 4: What is the weight (carat) of the diamond?
As a customer, it is important to know how many carats are in the piece of jewellery you have chosen, because that is where most of the value lies.
Carat (ct) is a unit of mass equal to 200 mg (0.00705 oz) and is used for measuring gemstones and pearls.
Carat is the acceptable weight unit in the diamond industry.
Step 5 : Diamond Color
The diamonds come out of the Earth in different color tones. They range from colorless (transparent) diamonds that are the most precious, to teal-type tones which are slightly less rare. The shade of the diamond is the result of it’s natural formation, so a diamond’s color will never change. Most of us know the transparent type of diamond since it is the most popular in the world.
Diamonds are rated according to their color: diamonds with a higher color rating will appear whiter and brighter.
Color Choice: D - H ensures diamonds in good and beautiful visibility.
The scale for evaluating diamond color is as follows:
Step 6: The clarity of the diamond:
In most natural diamonds there are defects - this is due to the immense stress and natural conditions unlike those of sterile laboratory conditions.
There are two main types of defects in diamonds: external defects and internal defects. Sometimes the external defects on the surface of the diamond can be removed by polishing, but the internal defects (such as air bubbles, cracks, minerals that penetrate the diamond) cannot be repaired. These flaws, generally, cannot be seen with the human eye unless a magnifying glass is used.
Step 7: Quality of work
This criteria examines the quality of the cut of the diamond:
Of the diamond valuation features, determining the cut of a diamond is probably the most important feature to estimate the value of the diamond.
The "Cut of a Diamond" refers to the way the diamond reflects the light that passes through it to the eye of the beholder.
A diamond whose cut is unprofessional and inaccurate, will not reflect the light through it in a desirable manner. The light will escape out from the sides or bottom of the diamond, so it will have a duller sheen. Therefore, cutting the diamond has a decisive effect on the value of the diamond.
